5 reasons that it’s time to upgrade your business website

If you landed on this page there is no doubt that you have been thinking about the need to upgrade, update or redesign/rebuild your website more than once. In fact, I am sure that you have been thinking about the need to do so a few solid months – even a whole year.

If you find more than one those reasons here I highly recommend reading my article on ‘How to update your website with a reasonable budget’.

Reason 1 – Responsive design

Not having a responsive mobile adaptive website these days is a killer to any business trying to get noticed online. It would be hard to ignore the fact that we are living in the smart device phone era. Our next and younger generation demographic live and breath on their mobiles and smart devices! Search engines give our major ranking points to those who have optimized their websites for mobile users. Don’t let this cost you your business.

Reason 2 – Maintenance Costs

The Internet is an evolving organism, well clearly it isn’t a living organism, but since it’s been released to the world, no too long ago it has evolved massively.

New platforms are rising every day using new website development techniques. Flash, Classic ASP, and Dreamweaver sites are all in the past – but yet there are so many websites that are still using old code. Maintaining these old sites could cost you.

We no longer live in the era of building a website as a stand-alone one-off project. Websites are organic and need to be nurtured, new platforms are cheaper to sustain and expand.

Reason 3 – Content Management

Are you finding it hard to update your website pages and copy? Can you even do so?

Updating the copy on your website should be an easy task as sending an email or invoice to a client. If you need to engage with someone else simply because you find it so hard – you know it is time for a change.

Reason 4 – Avoid being Hacked

Have you browsed to look at your website and found a completely other site sitting on your domain? That must have been a horrific feeling. It is a fact that old websites are vulnerable to hackers.

A website should at least be checked on a quarterly basis to prevent this from happening. Save yourself from the embarrassment. The last thing you want is for this to be discovered by a client.

Reason 5 – Marketing and Ads

If you even entertained the idea of running an online marketing campaign on social media (Facebook, Insta, LinkedIn) or even Google Ads – don’t bother doing so until you’ve upgraded your website. You will be just throwing money down the drain if not done the right way.
A really successful campaign is one you can completely integrate across with Google and Social Platforms.

With all seriousness – if you are serious about running a successful business your online presence is as important as your morning coffee!

It doesn’t have to be difficult – it should just be done right.
